The Dynamic Sustainability Lab (DSL) provides interdisciplinary scientific approaches that support organizational strategies and public policy in addressing emerging technologies, energy, agriculture, climate & sustainability transitions. Public and private organizations around the globe rely on the DSL’s expertise on quantifying the jobs-economics, operational continuity, community resiliency, supply chain risks, national security and environmental drivers.

DR. JAY GOLDEN
FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR OF THE DYNAMIC SUSTAINABILITY LAB

Dr. Golden is the Pontarelli Professor of Environmental Sustainability & Finance at Syracuse University. He is also the founder and director of the non-partisan Dynamic Sustainability Lab a think tank and research lab supporting industry and governments.
Previously, he served in leadership positions in industry including a Fortune 500 company as well as founding a multi-state SME. Golden founded and co-directed the Walmart led Sustainability Consortium working with 150 of the world’s leading brands and manufacturers. He co-founded the National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations. Dr. Golden was the faculty chair of the Business and Environment program at Duke University and was one of the first faculty members in the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. He has also served as the President of a University, as well as a Vice Chancellor of Research & Economic Development at East Carolina University & associate Vice Provost of Research + Executive Director of Corporate Relations at Duke University. He served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Scientific Counselors to US EPA under two different administrations and received The Aspen Institute's Faculty Pioneer Award winner for work on Business and the Environment.

DR. JANIRE PASCUAL GONZALEZ
MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE DYNAMIC SUSTAINABILITY LAB

Dr. Janire Pascual-Gonzalez is a Research Assistant Professor in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, where she is also the Managing Director of the Dynamic Sustainability Lab at Syracuse University. Prior to joining Syracuse University, she was a postdoctoral scholar in the Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement and the Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering at East Carolina University.

Pascual-Gonzalez's research focuses on sustainable transitions and their unintended consequences, examining how new technologies, strategies and policies reshape the way sustainable goods are produced and consumed. Her research includes the study of the supply chains and stakeholders behind these transitions, from growers and buyers to the policy incentives, market conditions and economic forces that drive adoption. A central focus of her work is quantifying, analyzing and expanding the U.S. biobased economy across chemicals, energy, fuels and consumer products.​

Pascual-Gonzalez received a chemical engineering degree and a master's degree in chemical engineering and processes in 2011 from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona (Spain). In 2015, she received a Ph.D. in chemical, environmental and processes engineering at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona (Spain).
